Prior to all of this drama with the corona-virus and the lock-downs, we were accustomed to providing services for extremely large events. Our biggest wedding was a Turkish Wedding for our very own Admin & Finance Assistant Ozge which catered for 1200 guests.
Our biggest event was a private function for an international client for 600 guests.
I think it's safe to say that, large scale weddings and events are not going to be happening for a while. The question is when will they be back?
No one can really answer this question, however I think it is important to be both hopeful, positive and realistic. I have been receiving a number of enquiries for 2021 for weddings catering for 250+ guests. Some even up to 350, and I have to be honest, I think that it is ambitious.
As I write this blog post, we are in the beginning of November and have just entered our second national lock down. Weddings are not allowed to be held unless one of the people getting married is dying and we have no indication of when this will change. Prior to the lock-down, weddings were restricted to 30 guests and then a further 15. Whenever we do emerge from the lock-down, the allowance is going to start small and increase incrementally.
In my opinion, couples getting married should start small with their guest list, as small as possible. Look at it like this, start with the worst case scenario and closer to the date, as there is greater clarity on numbers, increase as much as you are allowed to according to government guidelines.
I think this is best approach to save yourself from anymore disappointments.
