When I started venue styling, it was with my own wedding 14 years ago. We were very young with little money and had to do everything DIY.
Fast forward for a period of 7 years following this, we gained plenty of experience from friends and family getting married who wanted us to do the same for them. After these 7 years, we had our first child and I decided I wanted to run Afmena Events as a business to facilitate being able to work around my family...and just like that, I registered the company and became a business owner. It would take a further 3 years before I would leave my full time teaching job and position as Head of Department to do design full time.
Now a further 7 years on and three children later, we have just won our second award, 'Event Decorators of the year'. I am so thrilled! I got to enjoy the evening with my darling husband which is always a bonus, as it started with our own love story and sometimes when we sit back and see how it has all grown, the amazing people, wonderful experiences and special clients we have met along the way...I can't help but be extremely excited about the potential of the next 7 years!
